Obama Works With Business and Big Labor

President Obama's still unattained goal of bipartisanship on Capitol Hill is having better luck in the business world. Groups like the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, Financial Services Forum, and National Association of Manufacturers say they've been invited to help the new administration with its programs. Some thought that the Democrat would shun business in favor of Big Labor, ignored in the Bush years. But most say their suggestions were solicited during the transition and into the first few weeks in office. "The most important thing to remember is that President Obama must succeed in turning this economy around," says Chamber boss Tom Donohue. "The Chamber is going to work with and support the new administration and Congress wherever we can. We are optimistic that there will be significant common ground on many of the issues."
