Labor

Our economic health is being challenged by a labor movement that seems determined to turn back the clock to the 1950s.  They want the authority to force workers to join unions by abolishing private ballots. They want to control the boardrooms of our best companies. And they want to hijack our politics and advance an agenda that includes tax increases, a government takeover of American health care, and closing off our economy to the worldwide market.

The Chamber will oppose any effort to strip away workers' freedom and continue to advance a positive agenda for improving education and training, lowering taxes, opening new export markets, and rebuilding America's infrastructure -- all of which promote job growth. We will continue to fight any agenda of higher taxes and more regulations that will drive jobs away. If today's labor leaders won't represent American workers with the vision and common sense needed to compete and win in the worldwide economy, then the U.S. Chamber will.
