The worst President and embarrassing leader we as a nation have ever had in The White House. He and his wife spend money on themselves like water but expect the American people to live on nothing. He wants us to drive very small electric cars while he and his wife are always on Air Force One or Air Force Two. He is flying somewhere every day while more and more Americans are losing their jobs. He never stays in The White House to work for the American people in solving our country's problems and all I have to say is "God be with the soldiers who are fighting for our country," because our Commander and Chief of the Armed Forcess is too busy flying around and giving speeches instead of assisting them and saving the lives of the men and women who are giving their lives for this country in a time of war. He's doing a great job. We were at the brink of a total economic meltdown. The recession started in the last quarter of 2007. Who ever heard of Obama then? Since he has been in office the Bush down turn has stabilized and we are looking to positve GDP numbers. Unemployment is high, but even Obama can't work miracles. We are still in a recession. There are unemployed people getting checks that don't deserve them, that haven't worked enough to get what they are getting. We are bailing out businesses that didn't run their business appropriately and now are benefitting from their failing practices - no lessons have been learned. I had an increase in the amount of Federal withholding tax deducted from my pension check in the amount of $44.40. When I called to ask why there was a change they said it was because of Obama's economic stimulus package. He told us that we would see an increase in our pay checks. Because retirees aren't working it didn't apply to us and the tax tables were adjusted to come up with the increases for those who did get it. What's with that? I make $31,000 pension,of which I am court ordered to pay my ex-wife $350 per month for her health care even though she is on full medicare. Far less than the $250,000 limit for tax increases Obama mentioned. As for his promise we could keep our health care plans that we have now if his plan is passed, well he already allowed GM and Delphi to strip us of our existing plans as part of the bail outs. President Obama has tackled the many problems facing this country in a calm and reasonable manner. Obama has had a lot of clean up to do after the last administration and he seems to be working hard to get the country back on track. I urge him to continue to advocate for health care reform that includes a public option. I find it most interesting that many of the "protestors" at meetings appear to be of Medicare eligible age. Do they not understand that they are on a public plan? And are they afraid to admit that Medicare works quite well? Solving the medical care issues would help businesses as well as individuals. I believe that Obama has done extremely well, especially given the excessive, meritless, and relentless opposition. I was always taught that one shouldn't complain unless they had a sensible alternative. A glossy brochure, weekly press conferences, and out-right myths are not a a sensible alternative. I also recall that Einstein said those repeating the same thing over and over again expecting a different result constitutes the definition of insanity. Hence, the status quo is not acceptable. If only he had some cooperation from the Right side of the aisle, just think what could be done. No one is saying Obama is perfect. However, if someone took a gun to a Bush-Cheney event, there'd be hell to pay. Heck if you had the wrong bumper sticker you weren't allowed into the former President's few town halls! Differences of opinion are par for the course. Invoking Hitler, death panels, and other myths that 'moderates' like Chuck Grassley fail to de-bunk goes beyond what I consider that a patriotic, sensitive American should allow themselves to engage in. Also, if Boeing and Airbus are competing for an airline's contract, who do you think has the advantage? Regardless of what one thinks of the French healthcare system and putting aside governmental assistance, Airbus has much lower costs. Why do you think that is? A more evenly distributed method of paying for healthcare! Also, Airbus may not be having as many out-sourcing related problems that Boeing appears to be having all in an effort to avoid paying their (Boeing's) experienced American workers. Given the Chamber's stances and the results of this vote, it is clear that you are not really on the side of the citizen. If you have no citizens, no one buys things, no one comes to work, and no one votes. The Cash for Clunkers program has brought a temporary substantial increase in production. The stimulus package put more money in our pocket, ensured our roads are safe and can handle the growing capacity, and that our rail and other public transit systems (key drivers of the economy) are as good as can be. Allowing stem-cell research will only help countless Americans (I guess Bush was in favor of some government intervention after-all). Finally, it was reported today that Tom Ridge admitted to taking advantage of the Threat level system to bring about strategic advantages for the Republicans. A public option will make the insurance companies be more competitive and maybe for once think about the consumer (patients) instead of their bottom line. Everyone is talking about health care reform but it is deplorable that the talkers are so misinformed. I am so tired of the scare tactics that are being spread. I really hope the public option plan stays on the ballot. I work in the health care field and i know that doctors are sick of being told by the health care companies what they can and can not do for a patient because of protocol. If me, a patient, goes out of the prescribed steps that the insurance companies dictate, not what my doctor thinks is best,. I really hope that the president can get a good health care plan enacted. That is one which has a single payer source and a public plan. Medicare works well I have never had a problem getting with a doctor, however under private insurance I always had problems getting things approved. What in the hell are you trying to prove with such a poll? I always believed that the U.S. Chamber of Commerce existed to serve businesses nationwide. But what I am finding you doing is weighing in on issues that only have the best interest of the Chamber's mission in mind and not the betterment of the constituents those companies serve. Unfunded healthcare has a significant effect on all companies as the costs of caring for those people is merely funded through increased health insurance costs and higher taxes, so the businesses you serve are already paying the bill. Wouldn't it make sense that if they are already paying the bill to create some order to the process and have a better sense of their exposure, while at the same time helping prevent catastrophic terribly expensive care because there is no other coverage for the uninsured? I feel that Obama is going to create a national disaster if he continues to try to "equalize" Americans and bankrupt the very employers who support the majority of Americans with healthcare plans. Make it more expensive to pay for the employees healthcare and 1) employers willl have to let go of employees or 2) employers will have to ask employees for more of a contribution to their health care plans. this is merely one major point.
