With the flurry of health care proposals coming from all quarters, where does the U.S. Chamber stand on access to quality health care?
Generally, we support the goal of covering all individuals through private health insurance. However, we are not prepared to turn our health system over to the government. The Chamber believes that the private sector and competitive market forces are the best means to meeting health care needs.
Like doctors who take a Hippocratic Oath to "first, do no harm," this is our guiding philosophy as we work through one of the most emotional and complex issues facing the country.
