Todd Akin’s insistence on staying in the Republican race (he will almost certainly lose) means the GOP needs to find another pick-up to get a majority. Polling suggests there might be an opening in Maine, where the favorite remains independent Angus King. The U.S. Chamber advertised heavily against King for a while, and he had a couple weeks of rough earned media. Yesterday the NRSC went on the air with an ad that says the former governor has changed and that also attacks Democratic candidate Cynthia Dill as too liberal. “Millionaire Angus King…used his political connections to get a taxpayer-backed loan for his wind mill business. The press says King’s loan was so sketchy that Congress had to investigate. Angus got caught.” Watch: http://goo.gl/OBGm5.
